MELLIANGEE PEREZ (Cio-Cio-San)
Ms. Pérez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She studied at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico as well as studying voice under Zoraida Lopez and Justino Díaz. Pérez has represented Puerto Rico at various festivals in Europe. She has performed with all the opera companies in the Islandas well as performing in Europe, the United States, Central America, and the Caribbean. In August 2010, she was soprano soloist at the performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and made her debut at the Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito under the musical direction José Antonio Molina. Ms. Pérez’s opera roles include Donna Anna (Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI) Mimi (Puccini’s LA BOHEME, Contessa Almaviva (Mozart’s NOZZE DI FIGARO) Micaela (Bizet’s CARMEN), Lauretta and Nella (Puccini’s GIANNI SCHICCHI) Suzel (Mascagni’s L’AMICO FRITZ) Cio-Cio-San (Puccini’s MADAMA BUTTERFLY) Liu (Puccini’s TURANDOT) and others. She made her debut as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico in a concert entitled MUSIC OF BROADWAY, conducted by Roselin Pabón, who is also the general manager of the Arturo Somohano Philharmonic Orchestra of Puerto Rico. Ms. Perez has performed major soprano roles wit Teatro Lirico D’Europa for many years now, all to outstanding reviews from the both the press and the audience.
BENJAMIN SLOWMAN ( B. F. Pinketon)
Benjamin Sloman is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting young Australian tenors of his generation. He has studied in Italy and the United States under the tutelage and mentorship of opera luminaries Gioacchino Li Vigni, Nicola Martinucci, Salvatore Fisichella, and Lauren Flanigan. Recent engagements with Teatro Eschilo, Teatro Dell’Orca, Teatro Lirico D’Europa, New York Grand Opera, New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, Opera Lancaster, Taconic Opera, New Rochelle Opera, Opera Camerata of Washington, Sydney Lyric Opera, Gateway Orchestra, Opera Theatre of Montclair, and Regina Opera have included leading tenor roles in TOSCA, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, NABUCCO, UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, MANON LESCAUT, PAGLIACCI, CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, RIGOLETTO, LA TRAVIATA, LA BOHEME, CARMEN, and L’AMORE DEI TRE RE. For his performance of Pinkerton in Central Park, New York, Benjamin’s voice was described as “a brilliant tenor voice with torrents of golden sound” (La Voce Italiana). On the concert stage Benjamin regularly performs around the world including highly praised performances of Rossini’s PETITE MESSA SOLENNELLE and the world premiere of Neely Bruce’s dramatic oratorio; THE APOTHEOSIS OF ARISTIDES for which Benjamin created the title role. In December 2016 Benjamin will make his role debut as Andrea Chénier with Theater Erfurt in Germany and Antipolis Théâtre d’Antibes in France.
VIARA ZHELEZOVA (Suzuki)
The Bulgarian mezzo-soprano graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in 1985 and joined the roster of the Bulgarian National Opera, where she has performed leading mezzo roles alongside such singers as Ghena Dimitrova, Nicolai Giuselev, Anna Tomova Sintova and others. She has appeared as a guest artist with opera companies throughout Eastern Europe and has been a principal soloist with Teatro Lirico D’Europa since 1992 performing the title role in Bizet’s CARMEN, Donna Elvira and Zerlina in Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI, Flora in Verdi’s LA TRAVIATA, Cherubino in Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Madalena in Verdi’s RIGOLETTO, Orlovsky in Strauss DIE FLEDERMAUS, Rosina in Rossini’s IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGIA, Suzuki in Puccini’s MADAMA BUYYERFLY and as a soloist in many of Teatro Lirico’s popular concert with full orchestra performances.
